DNOW: Discipleship Lesson 3a

Today we had a great discussion on 2 of 5 false gospels which we will continue next week.
"I am not ashamed of the gospel for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes.." (Romans 1:16)
It is necessary that we reexamine the gospel we believe. Consider Paul's words to the Galatians as he worked to organize the early followers of Jesus (Galatians 1:6-12). There is not a Christian in the world that does not need to seriously consider Paul's words to the Galatians.
"Examine yourselves, to see whether you are in the faith. Test yourselves. Or do you not realize this about yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you." (2 Corinthians 13:5)
The true gospel is the church's most precious gift to cherish, protect, and pass on. A prominent pastor stated, "One of the perennial tasks of the church is to reexamine the gospel we preach and believe, alert to ways it has been reshaped by the idols of our culture."

The false gospels being preached and followed today are creating a different kind of disciple. These false gospels represent man-made, self-centered religion, as opposed to God's revealed gospel.
