The "power in the peach" demonstration today gives us a visual illustration of how critical the Word of God is to our spiritual journey to become "one" with our Lord. Hebrews 4:12 says, "...the Word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to the dividing soul and spirit..."
I took the knife and split the peach in half. The fuzzy outer skin represents our body. The juicy fruit of the peach represents our soul. Buried deep in the center of the fruit of the peach was the large seed. With the knife, I was able to divide the flesh of the peach from its inner seed. The knife is to the peach as the Word of God is to our lives as believers. Without the absolute truth found in God's Word we can not clearly see our sin. Only when we see our sins, as God sees them, are we willing to seek God's forgiveness. "What a wretched man am I! Who will rescue me from this body that is subject to death?" Romans 7:24
Two of God's greatest miracles are: (1) when He rescues a lost soul; (2) when a rescued soul chooses to live in absolute surrender to the Lord Jesus Christ, become one with the Father, and the Holy Spirit reigns over that believer's sinful soul.
Next week we will look at the WORD STUDY METHOD of Bible study.
